On the 1st September 2017, 4 special schools in Southend-on-Sea (Kingsdown School, Lancaster School, St Christopher School and St Nicholas School) formed a Multi Academy Trust, known as the SEN Trust Southend. The Southend SEN Trust is a lead education partner in the HMS Leigh: Guardian of the Thames project and the expertise of their staff and the support of their parents and students has meant that this project is empowered by this community. It has been central to the success of the HMS Leigh project to explore everyone’s connection with history and creativity and our specialist artist, Alison Ward inspires everyone in the Southend community to get involved. History is about everyone; And everyone matters.
