About Blade

Blade Education is a not for profit company based in Leigh-on-Sea that works with local communities to create new ways to tackle social issues, experience heritage and combat disadvantage through art, education and information. We believe passionately in lifelong learning with a special emphasis on building bridges between the older and younger generations and that outdoor learning is the best way for children to understand and engage with the world around them.

We have been working since 2006 to bring our style of working that values the experience of community members while integrating best practice and the latest research into our projects. Wherever possible we hold lessons, sessions, education and activities in an outdoor learning setting that uses some of the wonderful local spaces we have in both urban and rural environments.

All ages and all kinds of people get involved in Blade Education projects. People have volunteered for us from the age of 8 to 100.  One of our latest projects the Southend Schools Festival of Remembrance bought together 25 schools and 120 volunteers to produce an amazing art exhibition of the children's clay poppies on Southend Cliffs and worked with 4,000 school pupils to connect them with their history.

Thanks to the tireless efforts of our partners the Leigh-on-Sea Branch of the Royal British Legion, South Essex Branch of the Essex Society for Family History and funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund, Leigh Town Council and Southend Borough Council we were able to offer wonderful learning experiences to thousands of children.

We offer bespoke services, innovative artistic and educational projects, media production and expert consultancy. We can build a fully operational service or project from an initial concept or we could produce you a couple of films to compliment your existing web presence... or anything in between. Our production staff are BBC trained and our project staff are all experts in their field with over 40 years experience in all types of media production.

Blade Education is built upon offering value for money heritage, education, art and community projects, learning support and media production to all. We don't take profits from Blade Education or our projects and we are proud to say that all monies go back into the company to make a difference in the lives of people around the UK.

Whether you have an idea for a project or need a film for your organisation we would be happy to discuss the possibilities with you.

If you are interested in volunteering for us please do get in touch with our Creative Director, Beth Hooper by emailing her at info@blade-education.org.uk
