2021 will be the year that we can bring HMS Leigh back to life on VE Day.
Commodore John Champion and his crew would like to invite you to Thames Naval Command to celebrate the end of World War 2 on the 76th anniversary of Victory in Europe Day.

Be happy the War is over!
May 2021 offers us all the opportunity to be a part of the joy of knowing that WW2 has just ended, to interact with performers who will bring VE Day to life, dressed as though it is May 1945.
Be inspired by real-world stories of those who lived, worked and grew up in Southend during WW2, and immerse yourselves in the fascinating history of HMS Leigh with pop-up exhibitions, curated in partnership with local historians, while you walk the 1.3 miles of the historic landmark and learn about HMS Leigh’s crucial role in truly being the Guardian of the Thames.
The Royal Artillery Association will be providing real WW2 Guns, the Royal Naval Association will be leading a D-Day Re-enactment in the Estuary on Sunday 9th May which will be visible from shore. The Endeavour, one of the proud Little Ships that went to Dunkirk will be one of the many vessels out to sea.
Musicians, dancing and spam fritters will be available for all those who can join us for the HMS Leigh VE76 Event.
May 6th-7th for Schools and Educational Establishments
May 8th-9th for HMS Leigh Supporters.
We hope to see you all there!
